I’m working on getting the mod uploaded to MLBMods. It should be ready over the next couple days if all goes according to plan.
I also have some other news for you all. For the first time this year, I will be offering an upgrade option for those who wish to upgrade from MVP Baseball 2009 to MVP Baseball 2010. While it is not recommended, I understand that some people may wish to upgrade to make it less complicated or because they don’t want to download a 500+ MB zip file. I should have the upgrade option this or next week.

Hi pirates. Just want to know if those of us who have already downloaded beta 1, and beta2 only have to download your newest patch, or do we start over with the upgrade? Thankyou.
July 8, 2010 at 7:01 am
Carmisa, if you installed the beta on a clean installation of MVP 04 plus Patch #4, you should be able to just install the full mod on top of the beta version. The installation will replace the beta files with the current ones.
July 8, 2010 at 8:43 am
So that means I have to un-install my MVP 09 version of MVP 04, then re-install MVP 04 plus patch#4, then install your new patch on top of the clean version of MVP 04 and patch #4. Is that right? I’m a little confused lol.
July 8, 2010 at 9:20 am
Ah, you have a good point. If you have a clean installation of MVP 04 + EA Patch #4, and then installed MVP 09 with all patches, then installed the betas for this year’s mod, you should be to just use the upgrade. That said, the recommended way to install this mod is to install the full MVP 2010 ontop of a clean installation of MVP 04 + Patch 4.
July 8, 2010 at 9:33 am
Ok thankyou.
July 8, 2010 at 12:22 pm
One more question Pirates. In your final upgrade, did you add any players to your beta versions, like Stasburgh, or Heyward?
July 8, 2010 at 8:55 pm
I added Pedro Alvarez and Stephen Strasburg. Unfortunately, I did not have time to make Jason Heyward.
July 8, 2010 at 10:22 pm
Thankyou Pirates. It’s not a big deal. We have a “create a player” option that we can use, and we can use 2K10s ratings for any player we need.
July 8, 2010 at 10:35 pm
So happy to hear that alvarez and strasburg will be on, cause I had to make both of them and I think I made Pedro Alvarez WAY too good.
And will I have to uninstall MVP Baseball 2009 before installing 2010? Or will the new installer just install everything over the 2009 mod?
July 8, 2010 at 11:23 pm
As previously stated, it is recommended to install MVP 2010 ontop of a clean installation of MVP 04 plus patch #4. However, the upgrade option will be available if you so choose.
July 8, 2010 at 11:24 pm
carmisa, you can also use the MVP 04 rating generator that is over at mvpmods.com
July 9, 2010 at 7:55 am
Oh ok. Thanks, pirates.
July 11, 2010 at 3:14 am
I was able to install the mod, but the schedule shown for the Reds in dynasty mode is from 2004, not 2010. They started the season vs. Cardinals this year, but schedule shows them vs the Cubs. What can I do to correct this? Thank you for another awesome mod, PiratesMVP04.
July 13, 2010 at 10:24 pm
OH YA BABY! HERE’S THE BIG ONE!
MVP 2010 installed flawlessly on a clean install with Win7! You’re probably gonna get sick and tired of the thanks yous, but . . . THANKS!
July 14, 2010 at 5:40 am
I just downloaded and installed the 2010 mod on my MVP 2004, But at the end I get A popup box saying it could not delete some of the original files to install the mod. When I started the game, the rosters where updated, But it looked like the stadiums were the same and have’nt been updated.
July 14, 2010 at 6:32 am
Hey David, was it on a fresh 04 install with Patch 4?
I already emailed Pirate, but I don’t have a MVP2010 icon, it’s the same old 2004 icon. Is there a new icon with the mod?
Also, there’s a MVP2010 logo in the “extras” folder, but it doesn’t appear in my game. Only the McCutchen intro screen. Is that correct?
July 14, 2010 at 8:43 am
Yes, it was A fresh MVP 2004 install with patch #4. The Icon on my desktop still says MVP Baseball 2004 and I do get the McCutchen intro screen. Also there is a MVP 2010 logo in the “extras” folder. The Mod seems like it installed too quick.
July 14, 2010 at 11:21 am
David, what operating system are you using?
July 14, 2010 at 6:38 pm
I’m Running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, The game does run on Windows 7. I also Have 4 GB memory.
July 14, 2010 at 9:14 pm
I found the logo in the extras file. What file do you install it in? Data, or somewhere else?
July 14, 2010 at 10:26 pm
The logo apparently doesn’t get installed, it’s just an extra file he decided to throw into the file.
Hey, since Pirate won’t be creating any roster updates (even though we wish he would) what do you guys think of collectively working on some? If it’s ok with Pirate, I think we should each take a couple of players, ie; Heyward, Ike Davis, Scott Sizemore and many more.
Just thought i’d throw that out there.
July 15, 2010 at 8:41 am
Plese can you help me.I have a problem.I install the game, and then patch 4 and i try 2010 mod at the end. After minute or two (meanwhile nothing happens) application say me this one.MVP Baseball 2010 has not been totally instaled because of the following reason:data.exe: this file contains invalid data.(error 11FD).you have to run this utiltty again to completely install MVP Baseball 2010.what is the problem and how to solve it? I try it first time this gane maybe i don’t know something or doing something wrong?
July 15, 2010 at 10:36 pm
cdadare, I have no problems with making roster updates! That’s actually the reason I included the roster.mbe file. You can use MVPedit to edit the rosters. If anyone needs help finding MVPedit, I can give you the link or send it to you via email. If you would like your roster update to be an official MVP 2010 patch (not necessary, but might give your patch more recognition) just let me know and I can arrange the upload to MLBMods.
Alex, go to C:\program files\ea sports\mvp baseball 2004\ and look for the file called data.exe. Double-click it and choose yes to overwrite. If that doesn’t work, you will need to redownload the mod again. Something may have gotten corrupt when you downloaded it the first time.
July 15, 2010 at 11:22 pm
Ahhhhh, that’s what I like to hear! I though you were pretty much hang’in it up after the mod.
I’ll probably start off with a single team, send you the .mbe so you can look it over.
When I was editing the MVP09 Mod, I ran into some issues with creating new players. I know there’s a cap on the number of free agents, but I was well below that and the game still kept crashing. I think I only imported about ten players from earlier .mbe rosters. Any ideas on what the problem might have been?
July 16, 2010 at 12:04 am
Glad you’re excited about editting the rosters! Since I won’t be spending as much time on modding now, it is my hope that the community will pick up the job.
The free agents have always been an issue for me. These rosters were actually converted from the original 2005 copy. There is a 2005 to 2004 roster converter on MLBMods that you can use to convert 05 rosters. It’ll save you so much time. The problem though is that 2005 supports 25 players on the AA team whereas 2004 only supports 22. So, you’ll have to delete or send to FA 3 players from each AA team. I usually cut bench players. Also, the heroes and legends teams on the 04 roster are replaced by the futures teams on 05. So, you’ll have to import the old heroes and legends teams from the original 2004 roster. Or, you could just convert a new 2005 roster and then import the teams from that into my MVP Baseball 2009 roster. Oh, and one more thing. You need to use global edit to change all 1st-basemen mitts to something else. Otherwise, all 1st-basemen will have blue gloves that say “No Texture” on them. That’s because the 2005 roster was designed to use a 6 glove set, whereas 2004 only has 5. So, the roster is referencing a glove that does not exist, and you’ll get the blue gloves as a result.
I hope I haven’t confused you too much. I plan to release some official instructions either here or on MLBMods sometime to help people who want to mod this. Good luck!
July 16, 2010 at 3:41 am
Sory but i still have a problem.Pirate you said me go to folder C:\program files\ea sports\mvp baseball 2004\ and find data.exe double-click it and choose yes to overwrite file, but this file doesn’t exsist in my game.In this folder only .exe file is mvp2004.exe.I tried in hidden folder i couldn’t find it.I simply do not know what to do.Maybe this is bad version of a game that i download it,but original game works perfectly.Maybe it’s time to give up and back to the MVP 2005,i tried aasolutely everything and nothing works.
July 16, 2010 at 6:19 am
Pirate, that’s good info. Thanks!
I had a bit of a problem locating the 2005 to 2004 Roster Converter. It was on EA MODS and submitted by Krawhitham, but when I PM’d him, he said he’d never heard of it. Sounded strange to me, but if it exists, do you have it?
July 16, 2010 at 7:03 am
Alex, did you try downloading the mod again?
cdadare, check your email. tywiggins made the mod a few years ago.
July 19, 2010 at 3:17 am
Thanks Pirate i downloaded again and works perfectly.I play all mods for Mvp 2005,and this is absolutely the best,i’m delighted.I’m very sorry that you will not produce mew mods for this game.I think that 90% of people play mods,2K baseball is very poor game.I hope that you wiil continue at least roster and portrait updates for some time, and please can you give us a link to download roster convertor from 2005 to 2004 game. Thanks once again…
July 19, 2010 at 9:09 am
Alex, glad the game is working. As stated previously in my blog, the current plan is to continue making addons for the mod for at least another couple years. But, that will be based on the demand for the mod as well as my time I have available.
As far as the 2005 to 2004 convertor, that mod was made by tywiggins, so I’ll have to ask him first before I publicly upload it.
July 23, 2010 at 8:03 am
Yo, pirates…
Just when I thought the modding for MVP was all but dead, you show up with another gigantic update. Props to you for making lots of people, myself among them, happy.
That being said, I know how to create players such as Jesus Montero via MVPedit. However, if you can just guide me on the proper way to add his portrait and others, it would be much appreciated. I’d also like to add guys such as Buster Posey, Jason Heyward, Mike Stanton, etc.
July 23, 2010 at 9:31 am
On second thought, perhaps I can convert one of the most recent roster on mvpmods.com.
So bear with me for I have loads of questions.
1) I’m downloading various datfiles, right? Then I put them in the same folder as Ty’s roster converter + freeagent.ini.
2) I run the converter. But how do turn these various DAT files into an mbe file needed to access MVPedit?
3) I globally edit the 1B Mitts. Got it.
4) I cut 3 players from each AA team.
5) You completely lost me in the Heroes/Futures thing plus the importing stuff. Sorry.
July 24, 2010 at 12:53 am
Nice to see you around again, yanksrcool05.
1) You download the MVP 05 roster files and put them into the same folder as tywiggins’ converter. Then you run the thing and it converts them.
2) To turn dat files into mbe, you use MVPedit and Import them in. Then, you can save as mbe
5) Import original MVP 04 dat files and save mbe. Export the Heroes and Legends teams. Then, close and open the new roster you’re making. Import Heroes team, choose to overwrite current Heroes team, and click ok. Do the same for Legends.
July 24, 2010 at 1:58 am
pirates…
No dice. When I import the converted files, MVPedit closes out with “data conversion error 3421.”
I am using the 2004 version, so that shouldn’t be the problem.
I downloaded the 2K10 to MVP 2005 rosters from mlbmods.com. Which 2010 rosters do you suggest?
July 24, 2010 at 2:04 am
I’ll add that I received the error AFTER I saved the MBE.
July 25, 2010 at 4:27 am
What are the 2k10 to MVP 05 rosters? Are those 2005 rosters converted from MLB 2k5?
July 25, 2010 at 7:39 am
Pirates! Thanks again, Love the Mod. It’s just great. Best of wishes for you and yours.
Question for everyone, anyone make an up to date roster yet? I only say because my MASH Sox have a ton of players that are or have been on their roster this year that were no where in site in 2004. I had originally updated the BoSox roster with these fill ins, 3 months ago. Then my computer crashed and all my work was lost.
Again, PiratesMVP…..YOU DA MAN!
July 28, 2010 at 12:49 pm
hi pirate…i cant play the mod…ahm..i can’t install patch 4…it says old file not found?can you help me on this…
cheers for the mod..but i cant play it..tnx
July 28, 2010 at 7:46 pm
Are you using a no-cd crack? These will usually set off this kind of error. Uninstall and reinstall the game, then patch 4, then the mod.
July 28, 2010 at 8:54 pm
yes i am using it…i try to reinstall it and patch again…but the same error…what will i do?…tnx for the help!
July 28, 2010 at 9:24 pm
Make sure you uninstall and completely delete the MVP 2004 folder. Then, reinstall the game, install patch 4, and then install the mod.
July 28, 2010 at 9:28 pm
when im patching it….i delete it and reinstall then patch..and the error is “old file not found”..that is my problem..
tnx..
i wanna play this..
July 28, 2010 at 9:50 pm
Assuming you are uninstalling and then completely deleting the MVP 04 folder, then reinstalling game, patch 4 and mod in that order, and that you’re not using your no-cd crack anymore, (You can’t use a nocd crack with this mod) your problem probably is that the patch may not be installing to the correct folder. Make sure you’re installing the patch to the correct folder.
July 29, 2010 at 5:16 pm
oh sir..im using a no cd crack
July 29, 2010 at 9:22 pm
Ok, that’s your problem then. The reason why the patch won’t install is because it’s detected that your mvp2004.exe (no-cd crack) is not an original copy. You need to use your original no-cd crack to install. No-cd cracks are NOT recommended for use with this mod. If you want to play without the CD, I suggest creating a mini-image for yourself and mounting if with Daemon Tools.
July 29, 2010 at 9:22 pm
*I mean you have to use your original MVP 2004 exe.*
July 29, 2010 at 10:46 pm
how do i find the original mvp 2004 exe?can u give mo a link?
i wanna pla this sir pirate..so please help me..:((
July 29, 2010 at 11:51 pm
The original mvp 2004 exe is located on one of your MVP 2004 CDs, I think it’s the 2nd one.
July 29, 2010 at 11:58 pm
can u upload the original exe?then ill download it…tnx ser pirate,,,sori for disturbing,,,
July 30, 2010 at 2:02 am
Sorry, but I do not upload original files from the MVP game as that is violating a copyright. As stated in the License Agreement for my mod, you must own a LEGAL copy of MVP Baseball 2004 in order to use my mod. Use of my mod with an illegal or pirated copy is prohibited. If you have a legal version of MVP 04, then you should be able to retrieve the original exe yourself.
July 30, 2010 at 2:23 am
Just wondering if you plan on releasing any patches and / or roster updates soon being that the trade deadline is days away
P.S. : the mod is awesome!!!
July 30, 2010 at 4:30 am
Unfortunately, I have no plans to release any patches due to my busy schedule, unless there is a problem with the gameplay. Hopefully some people in the community could pick up on it.
July 30, 2010 at 5:44 am
when will the mod be available on mvp mods?
July 30, 2010 at 8:09 pm
Due to licensing agreements with various contributors, this mod can only be released on MLBMods.
August 1, 2010 at 1:37 am
Hi Pirates,
Sorry. I meant to say MLB Mods. I downloaded it last night and it works great. Thanks for all of your hard work and dedication. I am certain we all appreciated your efforts!
August 2, 2010 at 11:36 am
I’m having troubles downloading the Patch #4 from MVPMods, can somebody tell me where can I get the file?
August 2, 2010 at 7:02 pm
http://games.easports.com/games/mvp2004/downloads.jsp
Download the Roster Update at the top.
August 6, 2010 at 12:01 pm
Thanks Pirate. Another thing, can somebody pass me your Portraits file? On the 2009 version I had it updated, but with this I forgot to save it before re-installing the new version.
August 6, 2010 at 8:22 pm
You should be able to just update the portraits file that comes with this mod. It’s actually the same one as last year’s.
August 14, 2010 at 1:08 am
I installed the new mod and it still shows 2009 credits and the jukebox still shows the names of the songs from the 2009 mod. It plays the songs from the 2010 mod, but when the words come up to show you what song it is, it shows titles from last year’s mod. I uninstalled the entire game and deleted the MVP Baseball 2004 folder and it still shows the wrong song titles. Is there a patch I can get to fix this?
August 14, 2010 at 6:56 am
We’ll have to release a patch to fix that. Is anyone else noticing this problem?
August 15, 2010 at 5:43 am
Ya, Justin is right. I guess I never noticed that before.
August 23, 2010 at 5:40 am
The same here.
September 2, 2010 at 3:30 am
Hi Pirates. When using MVPEdit 2006 it says import a .DAT and when i try to import the roster.DAT file you created for the 2010 mod it doesn’t recognize it as a .DAT so i cant import it into MVPEdit 2006.
I tried to download MVPEdit 2004 from Glass4 but access is forbidden.
I’m trying to change the cyberface numbers on some players and i believe MVPEdit is the only program that allows me to do so.
Any help on how to convert .DAT files into .MBE or a link to MVPEdit 2004 would be gladly appreciated.
Thanks Pirate and great 2010 mod.
